Rabbits can make great cuddly, friendly pets! Contrary to popular myth they do not eat lettuce, which can be bad for them!

Rabbits are herbivores and eat carrots, cabbage, wild flowers like dandelions and need grass or hay in their diet. Contrary to popular myth they do not eat lettuce, which can be bad for them!

Rabbits are small mammals which live in underground burrows. A group of burrows is called a warren. These burrows are beneath Grassland, Meadows and Forests. Some rabbits can also live in the Desert and Wetlands. They are very adaptable animals.

Rabbits have a remarkably wide field of vision and a good deal of it is devoted to overhead scanning, on the lookout for predators.

They also have very good hearing, helped by their long ears which can be up to 10cm long.

A rabbits hind legs are also very large and strong, so that they can hop away very quickly from danger and warn others in the warren with powerful thumps on the ground.

Rabbits have an extremely fast reproduction rate, with pregnancy lasting about 30 days, usually with 4-12 kits (baby rabbits) born.
