Access statement from
Old MacDonald's Farm
Old MacDonald’s Farm welcomes visitors with Special Needs, together with their helpers or carers, and we actively seek to promote and provide equal opportunity for all who visit us. We would wish to encourage everyone to fully enjoy the range of facilities and entertainment available. We have made every effort to ensure that the Farm is fully accessible for all and welcome constructive advice as to how we can improve our services. We recognize that there are many and varied specific needs and requirements and our staff are experienced in giving assistance to all. Some of the provisions we offer are listed below and for other particular needs, such as learning difficulties, partial sightedness or hearing and others our staff will offer advice and support. Our entry fees demonstrate our commitment to offer access for all.
General Access
All of our doorways are designed to enable good space for wheel chair users. We also provide wheel chair paths around the farm, appropriately laid out to fit in with our outdoor environment.
Toilets
We provide fully equipped disabled toilets with safety alarms.
Parking
We provide disabled parking spaces at the entrance of the farm.
Cafeteria
Our refreshments area offers excellent wheelchair access.
Helpers & Companions
In the interest of their comfort and well being, visitors with Special Needs are required to have at least one helper over the age of 18 accompany them onto the rides.
Helpers accompanying guests with Special Needs onto the rides may be required to sit in the same carriage as the visitor they are assisting.
Helpers must be able to assist the visitor with gaining access to and leaving the rides (including transfer from wheelchairs).
Our staff will give full instructions and advice, but for everyone’s safety, we will leave all lifting to the Helpers who will be practiced in this.
BALPPA Statement on Public Safety for People with Special Needs
Members of the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA) such as Old MacDonald’s Farm welcome visits by people with Special Needs and will do all that is possible to ensure a safe and pleasurable visit. However, certain rides and attractions can be physically demanding and vigorous and we therefore reserve the right to refuse access to certain rides and attractions should we feel there is a danger to a particular individual or individuals to ensure the well being of our customers. The Health and Safety Executive advise that refusal to allow access under these health and safety conditions is necessary and therefore does not constitute discrimination.
We hope that you understand and accept any such decisions made in the interest of safety of our customers. Should you have any questions about this at the time of your visit please ask to see the Duty Manager or feel free to contact us in advance of coming to Old MacDonald’s Farm to discuss this matter.
