Earlier on in the year, we sadly lost 2 of our male Rheas, this meaning that the farm would now only have one female Rhea. Old MacDonald and keepers at the farm were very sad by this news and decided that the lone female needed some company. To our excitement, our lovely friends at Capel Manor, Enfield (Educational College who specialise in Animal Care) contacted the farm with news that they may have some replacement Rheas.
On 16/11/11, Old MacDonald’s Farm welcomed ‘Kim’ (male) and ‘Aggie’ (female) both born in December 2009, to their new home with existing female ‘Dora’. All 3 Rheas have settled in perfectly and it’s nice to see ‘Dora’ happy again with her new friends.

Old Macdonald tells us that one of the most enjoyable parts of his work here at his farm is meeting and welcoming people from all over the world as they visit him in Brentwood. This summer he has found, to his pleasure, that lots of our visitors are families from Europe and in particular from Poland.
That is why this summer he agreed that the BBC could film an episode of their series Young, Unemployed and Foreign here at the farm with a group of young Polish workers spending a day here as they find out more about Britain. It was great fun to shoot and we hope they enjoyed their day. Of course amongst the animals they were filmed meeting were our Llamas, who have a tendancy to great visitors by spitting at them, hence Old Mac’s rather clever (his opinion, obvious would be my word) headline!
Thanks BBC and given that we have just been on TOWIE on ITV and now BBC 3 as well, it is hard to avoid your favourite farm on your favourite TV shows now too!
