Bring your kids to meet our kids

Sunday, April 29th, 2012

Our wonderful new born goat kids need names and also their mums want you to bring your kids to meet them!

So rush down to Old Macdonald’s Farm in Weald Road, Brentwood, and meet them, with the lambs, chicks and piglets, and you may be lucky and find more new arrivals on the day you some.

It’s been raining

Sunday, April 29th, 2012

You may have noticed that in the past few days it has been rather damp, and on one or two occasions Old Macdonald has faced a small dilemma. Because the car park and the paths in the farm have been flooded he has wondered if he should either build an Ark, or close early.

Given that he is quite useless at woodwork he took against the Ark option and so was forced to close the gates, but rest assured this is only done in extreme weather and not when it is drizzling but if you have been disappointed and turned up when we were closed, we apologise and will try and update our website to let you know when this is happening. However we are certainly open today!

A Pier Appears Up Here

Saturday, March 24th, 2012

Essex is noted for wonderful Piers. Southend, Clacton, Brentwood. The last of these is here at Old Macdonald’s Farm, and in our opinion is far better than the others.

When you go to Southend and stroll down the promenade one of the first things you notice is the lack of Pigs. What can you see? Just the sea! Nothing squealing, squawking or grunting, apart from you and the kids of course, but when you walk down ours, lovely and rare Kune Kune pigs are there to be viewed. Whelks and fresh air have their place but the fragrance of fresh pig is special. Sort of.

Plus, take Clacton. Stand at the end and all there are will be ships. OK we suppose, but where is the M25 with the wonderful variety of lorries and cars, and sometimes flying and occasionally crawling full of frustrated motorists? Nothing like that to be seen from Clacton Pier.

Also, these piers are nice but not rare. Go around Britain if you must and you will find lots of these stuck out in the Ocean, but our Pig Pier is unique. No one else has built one of these, and to be honest no one is likely to either.

Also new here at the farm, following pressure from the Goats who nagged him endlessly about the time and money he was spending on building brand new play areas for children, Old Macdonald has built a new climbing ladder for his flock. Now they want him to build an indoor play area for their kids as he has done for your kids. They will be lucky!

We Bought a Zoo Too

Saturday, March 17th, 2012

There is nothing that Old Macdonald likes more than going to the Cinema, well apart from counting his money of course, and also providing you with a great time when you visit, plus reading the Sun and Guardian (see other stories on this webpage), so let us start again. Amongst the things Old Macdonald likes is to visit the cinema and sneak in at half price claiming to be either under 12 or over 75. Anyway he managed to get in very early to see the new film “We Bought a Zoo” and is convinced it is about him, because in 2005 he bought a zoo, this one here, your favourite animal attraction at Old Macdonald’s Farm. Also, the similarity between him and Matt Damon is incredible, well he things so anyway.

Plus like the character Matt plays, he put a lot of hard work with his family into making it a great place to visit, and lots of people come and enjoy their day out here in Brentwood. He knows it is supposed to be about Dartmoor, but who can really tell? After all, the only real difference is that the head keeper in the film is Scarlett Johannson while we have got Darren. Now, who would you prefer to see here?

I refuse to give my choice!
