Our two Pet the Animals Weekends have just finished here at Old Macdonald’s Farm and what a wonderful time was had by everyone, not least our tortoises, ferrets, rabbits and skink, Annie the Owl, all of whom had a wonderful couple of days in the summer sun meeting their fans. For those of you who have not been here for a while, we now have the widest selection of Farmyard Friends plus exotic and unusual animals you can find, with the Meerkats, Otters, Wallabies, Rheas added to farmyard favourites and the lovely miniature shetland ponies too.
As a petting farm, with lots of chances for you to get up close to the farmyard friends you find here in Brentwood, we know how much you enjoy the physical contact with our creatures, but Pet the Animals Weekends give you just a little more. For instance our tortoises are normally safely tucked away in their special enclosure, but on a number of occasions each year we let them out for a good run around our specially created enclosure, and whilst World Athletic Championships it might not appear to be, it gets them out of their shell for a while (not literally). As tortoises are an endangered species many people will never have the chance to pick up and hold one, so this is a very special chance indeed.
Ferrets too are fascinating animals, very friendly, very naughty and possibly a bit nippy, so we give you the chance to hold and stroke one of ours and learn about them. Our rabbits in their run are always accessible, but with our experienced staff to help you we can teach children, and adults too, to hold them properly and safely and learn to appreciate them. Our skink too loves to get outside and meet people, so we give him the chance.
Although you have missed the two Pet the Animals weekends in August, every day is special here as our visitors are finding out, and as we offer family value for money days out so close to London and in the Essex Countryside, why not visit Old Macdonald’s Farm.

Dear Old Mac Donalds farm team,
We are writing to you to say thank you so much for a thoroughly enjoyable day. My husband, our 3 children and myself visited your farm for the first time on Thursday 13th August and we had such a fantastic time. We haven’t enjoyed a day out so much in a long time. We arrived at 10am and left at 5pm and the children loved all the animals and rides. Our children are aged 8, 5 and 1 and a half years old and there was something for them all. It is such good value for money. We will definately be returning for another visit !!
Well done
Kind regards
Dear Joseph,
I have been meaning to thank you for the attachment to your email for us to take my daughter and her four little boys again to your Farm. I appreciate that the mix-up with these vouchers had caused you all a big headache! But this letter is in appreciation to your kindness. Even I had a good time at the Farm, you have made it really lovely for everyone to visit, clean and tidy and friendly. The decking with seating area was a great idea, I could have sat there all day watching everyone enjoy themselves!
Many thanks again, we are visiting again soon. Thanks.
