Set yourself up for a great time during 2008 here at Old Macdonald’s Farm. Read on for news of some special events coming very soon. Why not join our email Farm Friends list by replying to this article and we will send you regular news letters and special offers too?
For instance, right now you can come and see our brand new Truck Trouble Show, complete with singing chicken, Colonel Blimp and a troubled Old Macdonald!
By the way, the latest two photos on this article are of Pebble, one of our farm kittens who has now found a loving home with Clare and family, so if you have any of our farm kittens living with you, why not email in their photos too? Let us see if they are all as hard working as Pebble here!
Even though it is late summer, nearly Autumn really, we still have lots of new babies leaping around the farm. Come and see them now! We are always getting surprise new babies here from your other favourites, and will soon have Meerkat pups. Come down during September for chances to meet the new arrivals and also to try out our new thrills and entertainment as well as meet your farm favourites.
We have now opened our brand new Adventure Bridges and Nature Walk in the area opposite the Rheas at the back of the farm, and everyone will love this new experience which will wear out the children and educate them as well! If you have photos of these, email them to us at oldmacdonalds@btconnect.com and win a free entry ticket.
Later in the year we will once again be running our Catapult Competition, which was so popular last year, and there will be treasure hunts and much more. If you would like our new leaflet that gives full details of the year here in Brentwood, send us your address and we will pop it in the post. But I do strongly recommend you email us now through this website and get on our mailing list for fabulous special offers.
Health Warning!!!! Old Macdonald’s Farm is being terrorised by our chickens who saw on TV that they are descendants of Tyrannosaurus Rex and are striding up and down the farm clucking in a threatening way! Chuckles, as shown above, keeps eyeing up the sheep for lunch, but still will eat the special food you can buy in our gift shop!! They have insisted that we include information on their ancestors in the Chicken Show, and you can learn about reptiles from the Frog Chorus too!
But take no notice of our hens because even though it is true they are descended from the giant dinosaurs of old they are all big chickens really, and visit us at your favourite farm site!

Hi Joseph,
We have all had another lovely time at the farm today and look forward to the weather getting better soon. Well it can’t get any worse than the Easter Bank Holiday!
We often see notices asking for suggestions for new ideas and my little boy suggested ‘farm crazy golf’ . The holes could be farm themed ie pig sty corner, tractor turn etc. You could run a competition for local schools to design a hole or two with the winners receiving an annual family pass to be raffled at their summer fayre. Plenty of publicity and all the children would want to come and see their winning schools design. We even have an incentive to keep the children from losing the golf balls small cups of animal feed for every ball returned.
We look forward to coming back soon,
Jayne Michael & Maria
Old Macdonald Says: What a great idea! We will look at this idea for the summer, but I hope you have not put the mockers on the weather!

Old Macdonald Says: Thanks Jayne, Michael and Maria for your kind words, but I hope you have not put the mockers on the weather by saying it could not get any worse! Hope you are right.
This is a great idea and we will work on this, and may even be able to get this ready for next year. I will keep you up to date with our plans.
saw the sign for your sheep shearing display but i’d missed it by a day! are you having another display and what happens to the fleece when your finished?

I brought my two children to the farm on Tuesday for the first time.
I was so pleased that the Punch & Judy show was there too. I hadn’t seen one since I was small and the children just loved it (3 times)!
They also loved milking the cow – what a good idea.
Thanks for a great day out.
