Old Macdonald’s Provides a Sure Start for local families

This is the third year that Old Macdonald’s has supported Sure Start teams from the Romford area, and for 2008 the families got reduced price entry, jointly subsidised by Sure Start and Old Macdonald’s, and then not only had a great day out meeting the animals and enjoying the many rides and attractions on offer, but also received gifts for the kiddies on the way out. Well over 200 families came along and took part in this day, and despite the chilly weather the rain held off (mainly anyway) and a fine time was had by all.

Old Macdonald’s Farm would love to invite other Sure Start groups to arrange a similar day out at any time during the year and will be emailing the teams in other local boroughs to suggest that they make the same plans for 2008. After all, the Farm is open to everyone and there are many children who have never come so close to farm animals before, let alone the more exciting and exotic creatures such as the Meerkats, Wallabies, Alpacas and Reindeer. The only thing we would change is the weather, and switch on the sun first thing in the morning, but a little rain and cold did not spoil the day for these happy family groups.
