In January we have lots of work to do on the farm, so are only open on Saturdays and Sundays. The Sheep are on Customer Woolfare Training, the Meerkats are learning Manners, and the Goats are still eating everything, while Old Macdonald is improving the facilities for you. That is why we are not open from Mondays to Fridays until February 4th, but come at weekends and we look forward to seeing you. Now read on for what you can look forward to in 2008!
Hello everyone. We have welcomed lots of new friends during the past twelve months, including the fabulous Meerkat Family who everyone loves and discusses, plus the Wallabies, Maras, Rheas, and now we have three Reindeer Calves who arrived just in time for Christmas, escaping Santa duty.
We have run our recycling programme for 6 months, and won lots of awards for that including our giant Tractorpult appearing on national TV! We were proud of that.
Then there is the entertainment for the children who love to come and see us, with the new Construction Site Sandpit and the Giant Worm Roller Coaster which are completely free once you have come inside.
Santa came to stay before Christmas and we have a giant Snowdome in which you can enjoy a white Christmas without the problem of getting freezing cold.
However it is us you really want to see, and you can get food at the front desk with which to feed us (yes please!), and then spend hours wandering round the fields stroking us and playing with us while you learn all about the life here on the farm. You can even apply to be a keeper for a day if you like.
Mind you, we are lucky here at Old Macdonald’s Farm because we know that we will be safe and that we will not end up between two slices of bread in the cafe. Our Kune Kune piglets will never have to find out what bacon is, and the chickens will not visit Sainsbury in a plastic bag, so we feel completely safe and loved. Mind you, did you know that Sainsbury send us free vegetables to eat as part of their company policy to help the environment, so when we see a van from them we know they are delivering and not collecting.
There is lots new here now, with special price family tickets so you can come any day to see us, and the chance to adopt any of us and that pays for the Rare Breeding programme too so it is a good thing for everyone. You can read more about it on this website.
Anyway, enough for now from all of us to all of you, and please do comment on this page about your favourite memories of 2007 and your ideas for 2008. You will win a free family ticket for the year to visit us if any of your ideas can be used, and a free day out for any ideas you send us.
Love and hugs from your friends here at the farm, all waiting to be fed by you!
