Now Spring has Sprung, De Grass is Riz, I wonder where them birdies is? The little bird is on the wing, but that’s absurd! The wing is on the little bird. (Anonymous poet of the 20th Century) but at Old Macdonald’s Farm now that Spring is here and the weather is beautiful (fingers crossed it stays this way) come down to Old Macdonald’s Farm where our little birds are waiting to see you, and meet our new arrivals and your old friends. Whether you are coming from Essex or East Anglia, Kent or London, set your Satnav for CM14 5AY and head for us in Weald Road, Brentwood. Plan your day out for the School Spring Holidays and come and visit us. You can be amongst the first to try our new Duck Derby (reigning champion shown above!)
It is always special here at Old Macdonald’s Farm, but now the Spring weather has arrived our farm is full of new arrivals waiting to meet you. Our Rabbitry is full of baby bunnies leaping around full of the joys of Spring, albeit a few weeks early, and with chicks, kittens and ducklings waddling around there is plenty to see and enjoy plus the fun and famished Kune Kune piglets with their Mum.
Very soon our Meerkat family will celebrate a new happy event with the arrival of new pups to our wonderful mother. Along with the Otters, Wallabies and of course the ever hungry goats you can spend all day just wandering and laughing at the frolics on the farm. Mind you, we know that the children will want to try out the Apple Roller Coaster and Snake Slide as well as getting sandy and dishevelled in the Construction Site.
You really must look out for the Guinea Fowl, a flock of four birds who waddle around the farm clucking away to each other all day long! We do not speak Guinea Fowl ourselves and it is probably just as well because I am pretty sure that they are passing comments on all our visitors, and not always complimentary!
Finally, why not try our new duck racing game? Ask in the Gift Shop to purchase a racing duck (rubber and not feathery in case you are worried) then find the racing lanes opposite the red barn, pump away and race your duck down the track! Then you can take your Grand National Duck friend home and practice with her in the bath, and bring her back on your next visit to the farm for another race!
