For those of you who have loved Meerkat Manor on TV, Old Macdonald’s Farm in Brentwood is the place to visit. We have a fabulous family of Meerkats, with Mum, Dad and two of the three litters born this year for you to see. The older brothers have gone to another Farm Park to create their own families.>
Everyone who visits us votes the Meerkats as their favourites, and with Mum being totally in charge perhaps they are setting a good example for all of us. We strongly recommend that the next Government working party on the importance of the family comes and studies them because they are great fun.
Meerkats are from the Kalahari Desert in South Africa, and whilst Brentwood may not resemble the Desert Plains there is no doubt that the birth of three healthy and happy litters in a year shows just how contented these adorable creatures are. It also suggests that we should find Mum and Dad something else to do in the evenings, but they won’t watch Eastenders and the father is not allowed to watch Match of the Day, so perhaps litter number four may not be long in the future.
We also have our Farm Cats who you will see and love as they roam around, mainly the café. They love to be stroked and cuddled and have the perfect cat life with people, food, countryside in which to roam, and warmth and comfort. Anyone who loves animals will adore our Cats.
While you are at the farm, do not miss our Wallabies, Rheas and Maras in the Wallaby enclosure; the rabbits in their purpose built barn; the Guinea Fowls roaming around the pathways; Annie the Eagle Owl; our loveable Otters; and the Goats. You cannot miss the goats, and better have some food for them too. Check out the special Goat Bridge, built for them to climb to collect their food!
Then there are the Donkey family including young Polo born last year; the cattle; the deer; the sheep; the chickens; ducks; sorry I am going on a bit, but we have everything you would want to see and you can rest assured that our livestock is not going to market. They stay here and enjoy a happy life so you can come back time and time again to visit them.
